Our Name | ELDR
Old Norse for “spark, fire.” ELDR is catalyzing a large-scale cultural change while igniting individuals to prioritize and complete their end of life planning. Much like the role of community elders, our ELDRs provide wise guidance in the present and help protect cultural legacy and wisdom for generations to come.
Our Values
-
Collaboration
Strong partnerships and unity are central to our vision. We value generosity and alignment across disciplines and seek to elevate the respective missions of our partner professionals and organizations.
-
Compassion
We honor the importance of preparing for the end of life by treating all elements with care, respecting the nuance of individual experiences, and meeting every person’s unique story with empathy.
-
Learning
Our team is comprised of life-long learners engaged in continuous improvement with one another and the field, and above all we learn from our clients’ profound and varied experiences. We believe brave curiosity motivated by genuine care is humankind’s best antidote to fear.
-
Inclusivity
We believe that everyone should have the tools and resources available to prepare wisely for their inevitable death. When systems are not deliberately inclusive, they are exclusive. The cultivation and leveraging of our own organizational diversity strengthens our ability to make our inclusive vision a reality.
-
Impact
We are committed to meeting immediate needs through a clear, productive approach to planning while building societal infrastructure for large-scale culture change.
-
Vulnerability
When we embrace the vulnerability inherent in death, our great equalizer, we define how we will be remembered through how we live and how we die.
