A Father’s Day Gift of Peace & Connection

Fathers, Father Figures, Mothers who take on the role of Father - no matter how ‘Father’ is defined in your household, their much deserved day of celebration is approaching.

With any important and prominent adult figure in our lives it can be difficult to decide what gift to get them on their birthday or other observed holidays. How do you find and package something that expresses the gratitude you feel for this person? What item could possibly show how thankful you are for the years of support and love you received?

As we transition into adults, and perhaps become parents ourselves, our appreciation and understanding for the sacrifices our parents made often increases. With that knowledge comes the even bigger desire to show up for our loved ones in the ways they have shown up for us.

This year, instead of the traditional gifts or items for the house, we encourage you to support your parents in a new way and offer them the opportunity to create a thoughtful plan for their end of life, through the guidance of a trained ELDR.

Discussing death with family can be uncomfortable, but spending the time now to learn about their future desires is worth the discomfort. These conversations lead to a more peaceful experience and allow the entire family to enjoy the remaining years they have together, with less concern for the decisions that absolutely need to be made at some point down the road.

In addition to the peace of having a completed end of life plan, our approach fosters communication and connection within families. Taking the time to address issues, communicate wishes, ask questions, and consider legacy projects and experiences builds intimacy and positive relationship dynamics that affect generations to come.
